I have noticed that the amazon link to the book (MMORPG in XNA) is not working anymore, i cannot find the book in amazon.com anymore.

Yeah, for us who don't have access to the top secret bits it seems dead. Any updates on the project / book?

This makes me sad that there hasn't been a response from the creators since this thread started about a month ago.
I would love nothing more than to get this book when it comes out but now i'm wondering if anybody even remembers the project.
please release an update or tell us how things are going guys!

Hathzynx,

The creators of the website have not abandoned it. We're just trying to get a few things finished up and squared away before we post any more information. More information about the status of this project will be available next week.

Cheers!

What forum are you attempting to use and what are the issues? If its slowing updates down this much, might I suggest using Joomla for your primary site and PHPBB for the forums? They tie together extremely well :)

Nate,

Thanks for the input. I used Joomla and PhpBB for many years, however the PhpBB exploits make it impossible to use for very long. About once a year someone discovers a new root level crack that allows people to post porn and other things on the forums without having to register.

The technical difficulty with the forums was just in getting the theme to match the news site's theme. That problem is mostly resolved now. I'm just trying to get the time to finalize everything and perform some testing before making any more posts/announcements.

The real problem at this point is my evenings are being spent watching TV with my wife rather than working. :) But an update should be made any day now.

Cheers!

I'd give it another month. Then I'm pulling out the `fail` stamp.

Looks like this project is not happening.

Such a shame, I was really interested in it.

Yeah, I really thought this project was going to be the thing that lets me get my feet wet in game programming.

The subject of the book is not the kind of thing to get your feet wet in game programming. You should aim lower.

Thanks for clearing that up. I've been coming here from day 1 as I was very interested in learning from it. I guess you guys are now just going to build a game and sell it - can't learn anything from that lol. Well good luck, and suppose I can remove this bookmark now lol.

Can you by chance explain why the book is no longer being developed?

Have things changed on this front?

(Publish date) 18 May 2010 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/...omy-Walsh/dp/1584505931

I was hoping to pick up some tips from the book on certain aspects of MMO & RPG games development (so a good book title), as i'm picking up XNA as a hobby to use as i am due to Graduate in Software Engineering in July. I have a wealth of Ideas i know anything i try to achieve is going to require months of dedication to get going especially considering im a more 'software' and 'games' trained although my lecturer who actually runs the games degrees is surprising confident in me that i can achieve it :)
